3 keys to the game for the Oklahoma Sooners defense vs. Iowa State

A healthy respect for your opponents can go a long way. In Oklahoma’s case, it matters a lot.

The Sooners are at home in a night game atmosphere and get to take on an old conference foe one last time.

Defensively, they’re playing as well as they have in a long time, and yet they need to approach this game as if Iowa State has a top 10 offense.

Last week in the NFL, we saw the vaunted Dallas Cowboys defense lay a colossal egg against an Arizona Cardinals team that many think is tanking. It’s a lesson in respecting your opponent and not thinking just because you show up, you will dominate.

You have to show up and still show out.

Oklahoma is no different.

The press is good, but just thinking you can go out there and it’ll be easy is a surefire way to find yourself scrapping for your life late in the fourth quarter.
