Texas, along with the Big 12 as a whole, should have a much better showing throughout the first round of the 2023 NFL draft.
As you’ve probably heard already, the Longhorns did not have a single player selected in the 2022 NFL draft, and no Big 12 players were drafted in the first round.
Many NFL draft experts mentioned that the 2022 draft class was seemingly a down year in terms of talent at particular positions, but that isn’t likely to be the case in 2023.
Blake Brockermeyer of 247Sports recently put together a way-too-early 2023 first round NFL mock draft. Next year’s class is expected to have an increased level of talent available, and that’s evidenced by the names mentioned in his top 32 selections.
With the No. 18 overall pick, Brockermeyer projects Texas running back Bijan Robison to be selected by Arizona Cardinals.
I love the idea of bringing Arizona product Bijan Robinson back to the desert. Robinson is RB1 in 2023 and is way better than his 2022 brethren. He’s an elite, all-around playmaker for the Texas Longhorns who is poised to put up monster numbers and will be a fan favorite for whichever team takes him.
If Robinson is able to have another productive season for the Longhorns, there’s no doubt that he will be viewed as the No. 1 available running back in the 2023 draft class.
Other Texas prospects that are likely to hear their name called in the 2023 NFL draft are linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, defensive back D’Shawn Jamison, wide receiver Jordan Whittington, and tight end Jahleel Billingsley among others.
