This year’s quarterback class only produced one first-round pick, and he barely cracked the top 20 picks. If the early projections for next year’s draft are any indication, that won’t be the case.
The latest 2023 NFL mock draft from SI.com has quarterbacks coming off the board at each of the top three selections.
Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud lands with the Atlanta Falcons at No. 1 overall in this mock, despite the fact that they just spent a third-round pick in this year’s draft on Cincinnati’s Desmond Ridder. Alabama’s Bryce Young is projected to the Houston Texans at No. 2 overall, followed by Kentucky’s Will Levis at No. 3 overall to the Detroit Lions.
Two more quarterbacks crack this first-round projection, as Miami’s Tyler Van Dyke heads to the Seattle Seahawks at No. 22 overall, while Florida’s Anthony Richardson goes to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 31 overall.
The only non-quarterbacks projected in the top five of this mock are Alabama edge defender Will Anderson (No. 4 overall, Seattle Seahawks) and Notre Dame edge defender Isaiah Foskey (No. 5 overall, New York Jets).
