Dante Fowler is still pretty high on the pecking order for promising pass rushers in free agency, but he’s not going to reset the market on the position in terms of his upcoming payday. Currently Spotrac estimates his upcoming deal to be worth $14.8 million per season.

The former third-round pick of the Jaguars semi-mimics the free agency status of Jordan Phillips. In the past, his game hasn’t always been there. Phillips had 9.5 sacks last season but for his career, in total, he has 15. In Fowler, there’s two four-sack seasons for him, not really great. Then in 2017, he had eight, plus last year when he had a nice bounce-back campaign with 11.5. Bringing in Fowler would likely mean the end of Shaq Lawson’s time in Buffalo, but Fowler could have better pass-rush potential and he’s still young, only 25. PFF graded Fowler as their 35th best edge defender in 2019.
