Stidham speaks

Prior to Newton’s signing, it was going to be the Stidham-led Patriots attacking the NFL in 2020. No one knows what to expect with Newton in New England, let alone Stidham. The jury is still out on who’s going to start, too. Many predict Newton, but you never know. But speaking of Stidham, he gave his long-awaited thoughts just this past week. When his team added Newton, how did he feel?

“I was actually back in Texas visiting some family when everything happened,” Stidham said via Patriots Wire. “Honestly, I was excited. What a great opportunity to compete with another great player — compete with Hoy and Cam. I was actually really excited for the opportunity ahead.”

“We’re all in that room together and we’re all there to help each other,” Stidham added. “That is what it is all about.”

Stidham is essentially a rookie, so many predict Newton as the front-runner for the starting job replacing Brady in New England. Makes sense since Newton is a former league MVP, but he’s battled injuries in recent seasons, so nothing is guaranteed just yet.
