Zakai Zeigler named SEC Player of the Week

Tennessee’s Zakai Zeigler named SEC Player of the Week.

Sophomore guard Zakai Zeigler was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week Monday.

Zeigler recorded 22 points and 10 assists in Tennessee’s, 82-71, win versus Texas in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.

He totaled 11 points and seven assists in the Vols’, 70-41, win versus Georgia.

Zeigler is averaging 17.3 points, 7.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game since returning to the Vols’ starting lineup.

Zeigler is the third Vol to earn a weekly SEC honor this season.

Julian Phillips was named SEC Freshman of the Week for the week of Jan. 23. Santiago Vescovi earned SEC Player of the Week honors for the week of Nov. 28.

Tennessee is ranked No. 2 in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll following wins versus Georgia and Texas.
