Zach Wilson loves the Jets’ 2022 draft class

Zach Wilson was very happy the Jets drafted him a new receiver, running back and tight end.

No one on the Jets benefited from the team’s 2022 draft more than Zach Wilson – and the quarterback knows it.

“I think everyone we picked is exactly who I wanted us to pick,” Wilson said Tuesday. “I think as an organization everyone saw exactly what we were looking for and they were able to deliver that.”

Joe Douglas got Wilson a new receiver, a new running back and a new tight end on offense. The Jets also added key defensive pieces that should make life easier for the offense in the long run.

WR Garrett Wilson should play a big pass-catching role for New York alongside Corey Davis and Elijah Moore, while RB Breece Hall looks like a potential three-down back who will be a great running mate for Michael Carter. TE Jeremy Ruckert could develop into a nice pass-catching option for Wilson as well behind Tyler Conklin and C.J. Uzomah.

Ahmad Gardner gives the Jets a legit shutdown cornerback on the outside with D.J. Reed, while DE Jermaine Johnson could develop into a mainstay on the defensive line. Even fourth-round DE Micheal Clemons has the ability to contribute on defense.

The Jets believe they’re a team on the rise, and there’s no reason for Wilson not to progress in his second season after the team’s 2022 offseason. New York added a Pro Bowl guard in Laken Tomlinson and two starting tight ends – all three of whom should help Wilson immensely along with the offensive rookies.
