The Ohio State football program has developed some of the NFL’s best receivers, including New York Jets star Garrett Wilson.

Wilson is primed for a breakout season with future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers healthy. The 24-year-old Wilson, who was born in Chicago and lived in Dublin, Ohio, until moving to Texas and starring for Lake Travis High School in Austin, was taken with the 10th pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Since then, he has had mediocre quarterback play, and Rodgers may unlock the potential of Wilson, who has gone north of 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first two seasons.

Yahoo! Sports analyst Andy Behrens expects a historic season from Wilson.

“Garrett Wilson wins the receiving triple crown,” Behrens said when discussing some bold predictions for this upcoming season.

The triple crown is described as the most receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in an NFL season. It is rare with just four players having accomplished it since 1966.

“Maybe I’m a little bit too enthusiastic right now because I’ve become a victim of all those clips of Garrett Wilson and Aaron Rodgers in the joint practice against the Giants where they absolutely ended that franchise,” Behrens said. “That was super impressive.”

That said, Cooper Kupp for the Los Angeles Rams was the last player to accomplish the feat, which took place in 2021. Kupp ended with 145 receptions, 1,947 yards, and 16 touchdowns. Each of those was the most among any triple crown winner since 1966.

Wilson is young, and with a star quarterback who should put the ball on his number, has the dynamic foot speed and route-running ability to make the triple crown a reality.

It’s certainly a bold take, but there have been far crazier.
