WR Antoine Wesley about 1-2 weeks out from return but still ‘touch-and-go’

Wesley has a groin/hip injury that could need surgery and could cause him to miss a significant amount of time.

The Arizona Cardinals have been waiting to see what will happen with receiver Antoine Wesley, who has been out with a groin/hip injury. He is nearing a potential return.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters Monday that Wesley is looking at about one to two weeks before his return, although he did indicate that things would still be “touch-and-go” once he gets back on the field, “just to see how he holds up.”

They have been waiting to see whether Wesley will need surgery or not. Kingsbury has not said it explicitly but it appears that if he needs surgery that it would keep him out a significant amount of time, which could impact whether he is placed on injured reserve before or after final cuts.

If he is placed on IR before final cuts, his season will be over. If he makes the final 53-man roster initially, he can be placed on IR and be eligible to return after four games.

There are two weeks before the Cardinals must make final cuts. Wesley is a receiver expected to be a lock for the roster if he is healthy.
