With limited and flawed options, Panthers unlikely to go free agent route at quarterback

There are only a few QBs worth giving any consideration and they’re all flawed in one way or another.

The Carolina Panthers should be exploring every avenue to get an upgrade at the quarterback position. While they haven’t made a splash move yet, the early signs are positive that they will eventually. The team almost pulled off a trade for Matt Stafford and they’re also expected to be a contender in the potential Deshaun Watson sweepstakes.

On Saturday, we ran through eight other potential trade targets from around the league. If the Panthers don’t deal for a veteran, odds are they will use their first-round draft pick on one of this year’s top QB prospects. There are other ways to upgrade, as well.

One possible path that hasn’t gotten much attention is the free agency route. There’s a good reason for that, though. There are only a few QBs worth giving any consideration and they’re all flawed in one way or another. Let’s take a look at the options.
