Wisconsin’s defense currently leads the nation in these two stats

The Badgers lead the nation in these two stats:

Wisconsin’s defense put together another masterclass during Saturday’s 27-7 win over Iowa. The Badgers stifled the Hawkeyes on the ground, holding Iowa running backs to just 15 carries for 42 yards.

To begin the game, Wisconsin forced Iowa into six straight drives that ended without a first down. It’s not secret that the eye test has confirmed the Badgers to be one of the best defenses in the nation, and the numbers back it up.

Wisconsin currently leads nationally in a pair of major defensive categories. The Badgers are the top defense in the country in terms of rushing yards allowed per game, giving up an average of only 49.6 yards on the ground to opponents.

Wisconsin also ranks number one in total defense, surrendering 214.6 yards per game to their opponents so far this year.

The Badger defense will have to stay near the top of the nation in order to propel Wisconsin to a Big Ten West title.
