Wisconsin in-state class of 2024 offensive tackle commits to Minnesota

Minnesota just landed the highest-ranked player of the PJ Fleck era

Head coach P.J. Fleck and the Minnesota Golden Gophers seldom enter the state of Wisconsin and take some of its best players. If anything, it happens the other direction with the Badgers successfully landing players from the rival state.

The former was the case this weekend. Minnesota landed a commitment from class of 2024 offensive tackle Nathan Roy. Roy is 247Sports’ No. 174 player in the class of 2024, No. 13 offensive tackle and No. 1 player from the state of Wisconsin.

The commitment made history in several ways. Most notably it is the highest-ranked recruit P.J. Fleck has landed in his time with the Gophers.

The Mukwonago native previously released a top three of Minnesota, Michigan State and UCLA. That means Wisconsin has been out of the running for Roy for some time.

Minnesota’s class ranks No. 10 in 247Sports’ class of 2024 rankings. The group has 23 commitments and an average score of only 86.85, however, so expect that ranking to drop as other schools fill their classes.

Wisconsin meanwhile sits at No. 15 overall with 15 commitments and an average rating of 87.92
