Although the Wisconsin Badgers played well against the Maryland Terrapins on Wednesday, their upset loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday night caused Wisconsin to fall all the way down to No. 20 in the latest Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY.
In a week where Wisconsin was expected to go 2-0, the Badgers nearly allowed a comeback from Maryland and disappeared in the second half against Penn State to lose by 10 points. Although the Nittany Lions are a team on the rise, it is still unacceptable for Wisconsin to get dominated by a team that is 3-6 in the Big Ten.
The Big Ten and the poll as a whole have shifted significantly this week. After a tough last few games, Minnesota has dropped out of the Top 25, while Illinois and Ohio State both moved up to No. 13 and No. 9. Michigan has remained steady at No. 4, while Iowa dropped one spot to No. 8.
