Who was Texas’ Player of the Game in the 17-13 win over West Virginia?

The Longhorns have now won three consecutive games and have a clear path to the Big 12 Championship.

After suffering back-to-back losses earlier in the season to unranked teams, Texas has now managed win three consecutive games.

Texas defeated West Virginia 17-13 in Austin on Saturday without starting running back Keaontay Ingram. It was the first time that the Longhorns have beaten the Mountaineers at home since 2014.

Defensive coordinator Chris Ash faced his fair share of criticism throughout the first few weeks of the season, but his unit has significantly turned it around during this three-game win streak.

Texas’ defense was led by junior linebacker DeMarvion Overshown who recorded 8 tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one pass breakup. Overshown’s performance is certainly worthy of Player of the Game honors, but Longhorns Wire has decided to hand this award to an offensive player this week.

In what appeared to be a defensive battle, several players on offense stepped up to give Texas the edge when the game was on the line. None more than running back Bijan Robinson, who was the first back to surpass the 100-yd mark this season for the Longhorns.

Rushing: 12 carries for 113 yards

Receiving: 2 receptions for 28 yards

Robinson gave Texas a much-needed spark throughout his first true opportunity as the featured back. The true freshman took off for a 51-yard carry on the first play of the game against West Virginia.

Robinson also solidified his five-star status by showcasing his rare athleticism throughout this crucial Big 12 matchup.

Head coach Tom Herman has not used Robinson enough this season. Perhaps this breakout game will change the narrative of Texas’ backfield being a running back by committee.
