Who is Utah State? Get to know the Oregon Ducks’ NIT opponent

The Ducks will face Utah State on Tuesday in the NIT. If they want to win, they’ll have to slow down Justin Bean and Brandon Horvath to do so.

Question: For Oregon fans who know nothing about the Aggies, give me an idea of some players to know? When we turn on the game, who is it going to be that immediately stands out as someone for Oregon’s defense to focus on?

Answer: Forward Justin Bean is an experienced player and the best on the team. He nearly averaged a double-double with 17.7 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. He is an excellent defender and gets his hands on the ball whenever possible by averaging a combined 2.1 steals/blocks per game. He has upped his three-point shooting game this year and while he doesn’t shoot many per game but he makes 1.4 out of 2.9, so don’t leave him open. Their other key asset is forward Brandon Horvath who is a strong physical player for the Aggies. He joins Bean as the only other Utah State player to score in double-digits this year. He has come on strong late over the past 10 games to be a real force in scoring for Utah State with nine games since Feb. 1 in which he has scored more than 15 points.
