Who and where Alabama is projected to play in the post season

Who and where is Alabama expected to play this bowl season? (Hint: it’s not where you’d expect)

The unthinkable has finally happened. For the first time in 15 years, the Tennessee Volunteers have knocked off the Alabama Crimson Tide. Tennessee has jumped over Alabama in the rankings as the Tide have fallen outside the top-five teams and been knocked out of their projected playoff spot.

While it is a bitter loss, Alabama still controls its destiny to win the SEC and make the College Football Playoffs. The Tide will take on a top-10 Ole Miss team in November to represent the West in the Sec Championship Game.

As for Tennessee, the Volunteers still have their work cut out for them as they play the Georgia Bulldogs on Nov. 5 in Athens, Georgia with the winner likely representing the East in the SEC Championship Game.

USA TODAY Sports released their updated bowl projections and the Crimson Tide are no longer projected to make the College Football Playoff semifinal. As of right now, USA TODAY Sports predicts that Tennessee will meet up with Georgia in the Peach Bowl. While Ohio State and Clemson will meet in the other semifinal, the Fiesta Bowl.

The Tide are now projected to play Wake Forest in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30. The two programs have never met before, however, Alabama would likely enter the match-up as a large favorite.

Alabama needs to get a massive win this weekend against Mississippi State before they enter their bye week and can sort some things out.
