Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff have brought in several key additions via the transfer portal this offseason.
As we’re all aware by the chaos that has ensued over the last few months, the NCAA’s implementation of the one-time transfer rule has essentially made the transfer portal become the college version of NFL Free Agency.
Sarkisian has hit it out of the park by bringing in potential starters at several positions of need. Quarterback Quinn Ewers, tight end Jahleel Billingsley, defensive back Ryan Watts and wide receiver Isaiah Neyor are each expected to compete for a starting role next season.
After the latest addition of Neyor, 247Sports’ transfer portal team rankings for the 2022 class now has Texas sitting at No. 7. Here is how the top 10 shakes out:
- LSU
- USC
- Ole Miss
- Florida State
- Oklahoma
- South Carolina
- Texas
- Florida
- Arkansas
- Arizona
Despite the 5-7 record last season, Texas has been able to make several strides to significantly improve the roster this offseason. It’s a good indication that Sarkisian has this program headed in the right direction.
