Texas received a massive commitment from five-star edge Colin Simmons on Thursday.
Simmons is rated the No. 1 edge in the country for the 2024 recruiting class and the No. 1 overall recruit in the state of Texas, according to 247Sports. He now becomes the highest rated player in Texas’ 2024 class.
It’s arguably the biggest recruiting win for Steve Sarkisian’s staff outside of Arch Manning last cycle. The Longhorns appeared to be neck-and-neck with LSU for Simmons over the last several months, and there’s no doubt they’ll have to continue recruiting him hard until the pen hits paper.
Landing Simmons bumped Texas’ 2024 class to No. 17 in the country, according to 247Sports. With several other Texas targets expected to announce their decisions in the coming month, Sarkisian is in good shape to bring in another top-10 class this cycle.
