See where Drew Allar ranks among returning Big Ten QBs in production for 2023.

Penn State has to do something this upcoming season that they haven’t had to do in three seasons. Replace their starting quarterback.

Upon the graduation of the program’s all-time leading passer [autotag]Sean Clifford[/autotag], [autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] will presumably turn to sophomore quarterback [autotag]Drew Allar[/autotag] to be the replacement.

Allar was a highly touted recruit coming into college. He was a five-star recruit from Ohio, ranked as the first quarterback in the country and third best in the 2022 class according to 247Sports.

The true freshman saw the field in 10 games with limited playing time last season.

Here’s a look at his 2022 stats:

Comp% Yards YPA TDs INTs
58.3 344 5.7 4 0

Allar certainly signals an exciting time for Penn State football. He’s the highest-ranked quarterback since [autotag]Christian Hackenberg[/autotag] in 2013.

As a five-star recruit from Ohio, Allar racked up some impressive numbers at Medina High School.

He threw for 9,103 yards, 90 TDs, and 20 interceptions with a 54.8 completion percentage. He added 826 yards and 14 TDs on the ground.

Allar was named Ohio Mr. Football after his senior year performance.

The 6′ 5″ 240-lb sophomore is lauded as having a big arm and being a natural thrower. This is something that Penn State fans have been yearning for in recent years.

Penn State isn’t the only program in the Big Ten who will be replacing this past year’s starting quarterback.

Ohio State, Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Purdue will all have new faces leading the program.

The Buckeyes will have the biggest shoes to replace with [autotag]CJ Stroud[/autotag] headed to the NFL Draft.

Stroud, a projected high first round draft pick set multiple Big Ten and Ohio State records before moving on.

[autotag]Kyle McCord[/autotag] is expected to be the Ohio State quarterback next season.
