Where Auburn stands in the latest ESPN Power Football Index rankings

Here’s where Auburn ranks in the ESPN FPI ahead of Saturday’s game with Penn State.

Following last Saturday’s  24-16 win over San Jose State, the Auburn Tigers are now looking forward to their next game, a home match with the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Despite earning the win over San Jose State, Auburn has fallen 13 places in the latest ESPN Football Power Index from No. 27 to No. 40.

According to ESPN, the FPI is a “measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 20,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.”
