When, where, how to watch Oklahoma baseball’s midweek series against Texas Southern

Everything you need to know before Oklahoma baseball’s two-game midweek series against Texas Southern starts Tuesday night.

Oklahoma (16-15, 3-6) is continuing their homestand this week with a two-game, midweek series against a familiar foe in recent years in Texas Southern (9-20, 8-7) out of the SWAC.

After going through their biggest rough patch of the season, the Sooners had a desperately needed strong run of home games last week winning three out of four contests against Oral Roberts and Kansas. The offense continues to hit at a very high clip, although the starting pitching has still been spotty. Left-hander Braden Carmichael, however, offered a very welcomed strong outing in the series finale against the Jayhawks on Sunday to stabilize things a bit to round out the week.

The Tigers, meanwhile, have not had a very strong season to this point although they have played much better since the schedule shifted to conference play. They are coming off a weekend series win of their own after they took two of three against Prairie View A&M. Texas Southern has also seen Big 12 opponents five times this season, but are 0-5 in those games against TCU, Texas Tech and Kansas.

This certainly seems like a great opportunity on paper for Oklahoma to try and keep the positive momentum rolling on their home turf. With the double midweek game before a road conference series, it seems safe to expect many bench players and bullpen arms that don’t always see consistent action to get some opportunities this week – but these games are still important. Every game pretty much is at this point in the season.

This series will provide the sixth and seventh all-time meetings between the Sooners and the Tigers, all of which coming since 2018 and being won by Oklahoma. Those five games have not even been remotely close, with Skip Johnson’s club having outscored Texas Southern by a total of 58-4. The Tigers are coached by Michael Robertson in his 13th year with the program.
