When, where, how to watch and pitching matchups for Oklahoma baseball’s series against Texas

Everything you need to know for Oklahoma’s weekend series against Texas to open up Big 12 play.

Oklahoma (12-8) is back on the diamond after a day off against bitter rival No. 9/10 Texas (15-6, 2-1) in Austin to open up Big 12 play on Friday in the first game of a three-game weekend set.

The Sooners were coming off of their best stretch of the season having won six straight games before falling to Texas State on Wednesday night. Amazingly, it was the first time in over two weeks that Skip Johnson’s club was held underneath seven runs scored, only mustering up two in the loss.

The Longhorns, meanwhile, are playing some really good baseball of their own having won nine of their last ten games. While this is the conference opener for Oklahoma, they already have a Big 12 series under their belt having taken two of three from Baylor last weekend in Waco.

A top-10 team in all polls, Texas will obviously be a tough road matchup for the Sooners who will need to be play well in all facets to pick up some wins. Knocking off No. 1 Arkansas in Fayetteville a week ago should provide some confidence for the team heading into what will be another tough environment.

This series will provide the 192nd, 193rd and 194th all-time meetings in the Red River Showdown baseball series, with the Longhorns holding a comfortable lead 133-56-2. Oklahoma, however, won the last series between the two taking two of three from Texas in Austin back in 2019.
