Texas defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski spoke with the media this week ahead of the Longhorns’ Alamo Bowl matchup with Washington on Thursday.
It was a rare media appearance for Kwiatkowski, who made the transition from the booth to on-field play calling this season. He touched on a variety of topics, ranging from the influence of Gary Patterson on Texas’ staff and key defensive members of the incoming 2023 recruiting class to the confidence of the players as the season progressed.
The notable development on the defensive side of the ball was one of the few bright spots for Texas football this season, which undoubtedly helped land the No. 3 recruiting class in the country for the 2023 cycle.
Kwiatkowski’s defense played a key role in keeping the Alabama and TCU games as close as they were. Although Texas will lose several key defensive starters, the incoming 2023 class along with the development of players such as Jaylan Ford could play a crucial role in Texas’ future success.
Here’s everything Kwiatkowski said to the media on Monday.
