Perhaps due to the degree of speculation surrounding his wanting (or not) to stay with the Boston Celtics after his current deal ends, Jaylen Brown recently spoke about his relationship with teammate Jayson Tatum with Stadium’s Shams Charania.
“We compete, we push each other, we learn from each other, and I think a lot of our relationship has been built off of that dynamic of respect — and that’s the beautiful part of it,” shared Brown. “‘I’ve seen him grow as a man. He’s seen me grow as a man. I get why, I guess in a sense, people always try to break up duos or people like that, because so far, we’ve been incredibly successful, and hopefully, we can be even more.”
“The only thing that would put the ribbon on top is getting a championship,” the Georgia native was sure to note. “Jayson being the ultimate version of him doesn’t stop me from being the ultimate version of myself.”

“At this point, we’re a part of each other’s destiny,” added Brown, providing fodder that will be bent toward the agendas of those who hope Brown remains in Boston as much as to those who hope he will not interpret his words and deeds otherwise.
But hearing from the man himself that he is not only on good terms with his Celtics co-star on the wing but actively disposed to think of such a relationship as part of their destiny certainly doesn’t hurt to hear among his Bostonian fans, either.
But given rumbles of dissatisfaction with how some fans and perhaps the front office have treated him in the past, that may not be the area of concern moving forward. An All-NBA nod and the supermax extension it’d make available would do far more to elucidate Brown’s plans.
