Week 2 Amway Coaches Poll: Texas jumps six spots

Due to the excellent performance against UTEP., Texas jumps up six spots in the Amway Coaches Poll. Tom Herman’s squad comes in at No. X.

Texas had an incredibly successful opening night against UTEP. The Longhorns won 59-3, being led by Sam Ehlinger’s historic night. To cap things off, Chris Ash’s defense only gave up three points, the fewest since 2017.

Because of the excellent performance, Texas jumps up six spots in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. Tom Herman’s squad comes in at No. 8, their highest rating of the season.

As for the rest of the Big 12, Oklahoma jumps into the top five at No. 3. After an embarrassing loss, Iowa State falls out of the poll while only receiving six votes. Despite not playing, Oklahoma State jumps to No. 12. Baylor hops in at No. 24.

Thanks to the Big Ten and Pac-12 not playing football this season, teams from the respective conferences have been left out of the poll. Four teams ahead of Texas in the initial coaches poll are not ranked this week.
