Week 12 CFP Eliminator: Still a lot of scenarios

We break down the 12 teams remaining in the College Football Playoff race, as our Eliminator took out three more teams in Week 12.

Week 12: Teams Remaining

We began the week with 15 teams. We eliminated three more in Week 12, so 12 teams remain in contention. Every independent and Group of 5 team has already been eliminated.

ACC:

Team: Notes:
Clemson Undefeated after Week 12.

Big 12:

Team: Notes:
Baylor Loss to Oklahoma hurts. Will need to win out and get some chaos.
Oklahoma Impressive comeback over Baylor. Needs to win out to have any real shot.

Big Ten:

Team: Notes:
Michigan Eliminated from Big Ten East race and therefore Playoff contention.
Minnesota Loss to Iowa removes leeway. Win out and reach Playoff; lose again and no real chance.
Ohio State Undefeated after Week 12.
Penn State Loss to Minnesota doesn’t change much. Still controls its own destiny. Would essentially be eliminated with loss to Ohio State, though I’ll likely wait a week to see what chaos scenarios there are.
Wisconsin Impressive win over Michigan. Loss to Illinois not as awful. Will have a strong two-loss resume by winning out.

Pac 12:

Team: Notes:
Oregon Heartbreaking loss to Auburn in Week 1. Still in decent shape, but no room for error.
Utah Decent wins over Washington and Arizona State, but loss to USC doesn’t look good now. Needs to win out and beat Oregon convincingly to stay in the conversation.

SEC:

Team: Notes:
Alabama Needs a lot of help after Week 11 loss to LSU.
Auburn Eliminated with third loss, even though all three are close and to good teams.
Florida Eliminated from SEC East race and therefore the Playoff race.
Georgia Good win over Notre Dame in Week 4. Ugly loss to South Carolina. Still a lock if it wins out.
LSU Undefeated after Week 12. Best resume in the country.
