WATCH: Wisconsin G A.J. Storr throws down impressive dunk

AJ Storr should bring excitement to the 2022-23 Badgers

The Wisconsin basketball program was in the crosshairs of many Badger fans after the team missed the 2022-23 NCAA Tournament, and as the football program was in the midst of encouraging top-down changes. Last year was a disappointment by every measure, especially given the lack of top-end reinforcements after Johnny Davis left for the NBA after the 2021-22 campaign.

Nobody knew how much the team had to improve entering this season more than Head Coach Greg Gard. That’s been clear throughout this offseason, as the program was able to keep G Chucky Hepburn and F Tyler Wahl, added to the already-established core with transfer G A.J. Storr and a freshman class led by C Gus Yalden and has already landed top 2024 point guard Daniel Freitag.

History may see last year as a transition year more than anything. That will especially be the case if Storr lives up to the hype after transferring in from St. John’s.

The rising sophomore was a four-star recruit in the class of 2022 and averaged 8.8 points, 45% shooting and 40% from three in only 21 minutes per game in his first collegiate season. The hype comes from his production in limited playing time, but it also comes from the highlight-reel plays he’s already put on film.

Yesterday we saw another glimpse, as the Wisconsin guard posted a video of him throwing down a between-the-legs dunk.

Storr’s shooting and athleticism should mesh perfectly with Hepburn, Wahl and Crowl’s already-established production. Badger fans should be excited about what’s to come this season.
