The Washington Redskins knew who they wanted in the 2020 NFL Draft. It was former Ohio State defensive end Chase Young, arguably the best player, and he was there at pick No. 2.
But the Redskins’ brass wasn’t the only one excited about the No. 2 overall pick. Six-year-old Chase Bosonac is a huge Washington fan, but also loves himself some Chase Young, even if he was from Ohio State. For him, having a player with the same name as him was all it took.
So, when the Redskins picked Young, it was a dream come true for him in just his “young” life. His reaction was priceless. When the pick was announced, he celebrated more than most kids his age would when a new lego set was brought home.
But that wouldn’t be all. The former Buckeye that will no doubt be the odds on favorite to win the NFL’s Rookie of the Year took note and reached out to the family to speak to young Chase via Zoom just a week after the draft.
You can see both the celebration and interaction between the two in the below thread from The Checkdown via NBC Washington’s Twitter profile.

Young gets it. He might be a budding star, but taking the time to reach out to a young fan and make his day is exactly the type of thing we need right now. It’ll be hard not to root for the former Ohio State star going forward, even if you don’t like the colors scarlet and gray.
