Every year, each of the 32 NFL teams have a dream scenario heading into the draft, where the prospect they’ve fallen in love with drops right into their lap without having to trade up.
In this year’s first round, it sure looks like that’s what played out for the Detroit Lions, who landed this year’s top offensive tackle prospect in Oregon’s Penei Sewell with the No. 7 overall pick.
It’s rare to see a tackle prospect with Sewell’s level of talent and potential fall out of the top five, and the Lions’ brass might have been a bit nervous that he would come off the board ahead of them. But when they confirmed that the Miami Dolphins would be selecting Alabama wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, the Detroit brass could no longer hide their feelings:

After watching Sewell’s film throughout the draft process, it’s hard to blame them for that kind of reaction.
