WATCH: Texas’ new coaching staff, players during team workout

Texas released a hype video on Saturday that showed the new coaching staff in action during a team workout with the players.

We’ve seen bits and pieces of each new coach getting accustomed to the Forty Acres, but Texas’ social media department released a video on Saturday showcasing the new coaching staff in action during a team workout.

Roughly three weeks ago, the Longhorns began their first offseason workout of the Steve Sarkisian era under director of football performance Torre Becton.

Sarkisian and Becton wanted to incorporate a velocity-based training program that emphasizes how quick the player can move the weight rather than how much weight that the player can move. It’s essentially replacing one-repetition maximum training.

“The game of football is about explosiveness, it’s about movement, and that’s where we’re shifting out focus to,” Sarkisian told Burnt Orange Nation in January.

Sarkisian, Jeff Choate, and Pete Kwiatkowski were among the coaches included in the video alongside Becton. When the first-year head coach mentioned that the work at Texas would be “All gas and no brakes,” he wasn’t kidding.

It’s clear by the video that Texas is working on improving three key fitness factors — speed, agility, and quickness. Everything appears to be moving in the right direction in terms of the offseason workouts and recent recruiting success, now Sarkisian must produce the results on the field.
