If you follow us, you know how much of a sucker I am for these things. We like to keep tabs on phone calls to Ohio State players getting selected to the NFL draft, and we are also a big fan of parents receiving phone calls revealing their sons as captains of the Buckeye football team.
Being a captain at a place like Ohio State is special. It sets you apart for dinners and other family-type atmospheres down the road at one of the greatest college football programs in the history of the sport. Nobody can ever take that away.
But this one seems a little more different. Linebacker Teradja Mitchell was voted captain and he and linebackers coach Al Washington informed his dad on a phone call that exudes emotion. You can feel the pride and love between father and son, and I can’t get enough of it. Maybe you won’t either, because at the end of the day, with the charged environment we are in this country, this is the kind of content we need.

Expect big things from Mitchell this year. The coaching staff continues to say that he’s going to get a ton of time on the field, and being voted captain after not being in the rotation much last season says all you need to know about how far he has come.
