Bang: an injury to his throwing hand wasn’t enough to slow Taysom Hill down, with the New Orleans Saints quarterback lobbing a 24-yard pass to wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey for an all-too-easy touchdown reception. And, wouldn’t you know it, Brett Maher nailed the extra-point attempt to set up a tied game early in the second quarter. It’s about time.
Humphrey was a surprising source of big plays early on against Dallas, also reeling in a 25-yard grab-and-go earlier in the game to help set up a long field goal try (which, regrettably, sailed wide right of the goalposts). And the 49 combined receiving yards he put together on those two catches were already a new career-high. The Saints receiving corps has been a big letdown this season, but more bright moments like this from Humphrey will do a lot to rebuild confidence in the unit moving forwards.
