The Eagles (8-was 7) will visit the Giants (4-11) without cornerback Ronald Darby.
The team announced Tuesday that it has placed the 25-year-old cornerback on injured reserve following a hip injury he suffered in Week 16.
The news is a surprise, in contrast, the Monday’s report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who tweeted that Darby did not need surgery and was on a recovery timeline of weeks, not months, with his hip strain.
Darby started in 11 games this season, reeling in two interceptions and breaking up 11 passes as part of a thin position group.
Philly plays for its third consecutive trip to the playoffs Sunday but will have to continue on without Darby.
