WATCH: Ohio State defensive lineman DaVon Hamilton dominates the bench press

Ohio State football defensive lineman DaVon Hamilton had the best showing on the bench press of any at his position group participating.

There are never any shortages of Ohio State highlights when it comes to the NFL Combine. If guys aren’t running fast, they’re killing it in interviews, or lifting a ton of weight. With so many potential draft picks to choose from on an annual basis, it’s almost an annual parade of scarlet and gray to look forward to.

The latest is what we saw from defensive lineman DaVon Hamilton. The 6-4, 310 lb. mountain of a man was due to show off his skills on the bench-press Friday and he did not disappoint. In fact, he had the most impressive showing of any defensive lineman at the combine by lifting 225 lbs. 33 times.

It’s the most reps by a Buckeye since offensive lineman Corey Linsley threw the bar up 36 times in 2014.

It’s not the best of all players at the NFL Combine so far however. That distinguishment typically goes to an offensive lineman, and the same seems to hold true in 2020. Just four have had better showings than Hamilton so far, and they are all from the O-line group. Only defensive backs are left, so there’s a pretty good chance Hamilton’s position will hold.
