WATCH: Maalik Murphy tosses game-winning TD to send team to state championship

Texas commit Maalik Murphy is headed to the state championship.

Texas is working hard to search for their quarterback of the future, but every week Maalik Murphy plays, it seems as if they already have him.

The four-star quarterback out of Gardena, California is in the midst of leading Junipero Sera High School on a historic run for a California state championship. After being scrutinized for lack of film, and a rough start to the season, Murphy has gone on a tear leading his team to a section championship and now with a chance to win a state championship.

With his team trailing 17-14 with three minutes left against Southern California powerhouse Long Beach Poly in the CIF Division 1A Regional Championship, Murphy made the play of a lifetime to give Serra the win.

Murphy, who had a man in his face, did not get rattled by the pressure and delivered a perfect throw that would end up going 75-yards for what was the game winning touchdown.

With all the hype around Ohio State transfer Quinn Ewers, the Longhorns quarterback of the future may be on the west coast making history for his school.
