Texas is working hard to search for their quarterback of the future, but every week Maalik Murphy plays, it seems as if they already have him.
The four-star quarterback out of Gardena, California is in the midst of leading Junipero Sera High School on a historic run for a California state championship. After being scrutinized for lack of film, and a rough start to the season, Murphy has gone on a tear leading his team to a section championship and now with a chance to win a state championship.
With his team trailing 17-14 with three minutes left against Southern California powerhouse Long Beach Poly in the CIF Division 1A Regional Championship, Murphy made the play of a lifetime to give Serra the win.
Murphy, who had a man in his face, did not get rattled by the pressure and delivered a perfect throw that would end up going 75-yards for what was the game winning touchdown.
