WATCH: Garret Guillemette launches home run against Oklahoma State

Guillemette is emerging as a home run threat for Texas.

Texas catcher Garret Guillemette is making an impact for the his ball club this season. He’s doing so with a powerful swing.

The USC transfer launched a no-doubter home run to left center field this weekend. After a perfect cut at the ball, Guillemette didn’t even have to trace the ball. He simply dropped his bat and looked to his teammates in the road dugout as he began his trip around the bases.

Make no mistake, Guillemette and TCU transfer Porter Brown were huge additions for Texas this season. The duo has helped combat the losses of seven quality bats led by former first baseman Ivan Melendez.

Guillemette’s heroics were not enough to take the series over the weekend. The Longhorns dropped 2 of 3 games against Oklahoma State in Stillwater. Even so, with Texas at 20-9 overall and 4-2 in Big 12 play the team can celebrate players that prove to be reliable as we head to the back end of the schedule.

The Longhorns will next take on Air Force on Tuesday before a three-game series with Kansas State.
