WATCH: Fans line up to meet Commanders QB Carson Wentz

Carson Wentz and Terry McLaurin are popular in Richmond.

The Washington Commanders have a game on Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens in the preseason finale. However, on Friday, several Commanders were busy, including quarterback Carson Wentz, wide receiver Terry McLaurin, defensive tackle Jonathan Allen and running back J.D. McKissic.

Wentz, McLaurin, Allen and McKissic led a Washington contingent to Richmond on Friday for a “Rally in Richmond” event, per Michael Phillips of the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Washington co-owner Tanya Snyder and team president Jason Wright also made the trip to Virginia’s capital city.

The Washington players coached girls’ flag football during the trip and engaged with fans. Phillips captured a video of Washington fans waiting in line to meet Wentz, many of them in team gear. Perhaps fans are more excited for Wentz than some initially believed.

Not to be outdone, McLaurin also had quite the line.

Wright spoke on precisely why the Commanders were in Richmond.

“We’ve had a presence here in Richmond that’s been meaningful, and we didn’t want to back off from that even though our model changed for training camp,” Wright said.
