The New Orleans Saints have had to lean hard on their captains this year, and Demario Davis has responded. The veteran linebacker is the heartbeat of the defense — if not the entire locker room — and he’s continuing his weekly pregame ritual even under the adversity this team has battled through in 2023. Davis delivered a passionate pregame speech to his teammates before kickoff with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.
Davis implored his teammates to rain on the Buccaneers’ parade: hit them hard, spoil their playoff hopes, and play the game on the Saints’ terms. Tampa Bay can win the NFC South with a victory, which would all but eliminate New Orleans from the playoffs. The gravity of the moment isn’t lost on Davis. Let’s hope everyone in the organization is working with the same level of urgency.
