Shane Buechele shook off an early interception to lead a Kansas City Chiefs comeback in the second half of their first preseason matchup against the New Orleans Saints. After finding second-year receiver Justyn Ross for a touchdown midway through the third quarter, Buechele connected with rookie Kekoa Crawford to put the Chiefs ahead by three points heading into the fourth quarter.

A Harrison Butker point after put Kansas City up by four, and the Chiefs are now in full control of this game after facing an early 17-point deficit after the first quarter. Buechele’s expert passing has accounted for 14 of Kansas City’s 21 points so far, though his day is likely over as Chris Oladokun is set to come in under center for the fourth quarter.
Plays like this are why the Chiefs have kept Buechele around since 2021, and will add to his legendary preseason resume ahead of the 2023 regular season.
