The last time we saw former Ohio State players Chase Young and Joe Burrow meet up was at the Heisman ceremony last year. Before that, they probably had plenty of run-ins during practice on the banks of the Olentangy at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
This last meeting on the football field was one that Burrow would likely want to avoid in the future. Cincinnati was driving deep in Washington territory looking to tie the score early in the second quarter. Burrow and the Bengals were facing a 4th and goal from the three-yard line when the play broke down.
Burrow ducked inside, then used his legs to try and make something happen. He got flushed out of the pocket, ran right, and dove for the end zone. Little did he know that Young had peeled back and took an angle to the collision point.
And what a collision it was as Young hit the rookie quarterback, spun him around, and forced a key fumble in the game. Watch the play unfold below thanks to the official Twitter account of the Washington Football Team.

Washington ended getting the victory, and as a side note, Burrow was injured later in the game in what appears to be a significant, season-ending knee injury. We wish him the best and have no doubt his character and work ethic will lead him back to the football field soon where we’ll continue to see him develop into one of the game’s brightest young stars.
