Former Alabama running back T.J. Yeldon has had a difficult time finding his groove in the NFL, as he always seems to be placed in a supportive role, whether it’s with the Jacksonville Jaguars or the Buffalo Bills.

As he enters season No. 6 in the NFL, Yeldon seems to have found a solid place on his current team, the Bills, even though he is not the featured back.

His leadership and ability to hold his role as the “next-man-up” is admirable and has not gone unnoticed by his current head coach, Sean McDermott.

In this short interview clip uploaded by Bills beat writer for Syracuse.com’s Matt Parrino, McDermott has high praise for the Crimson Tide product.

“The games that he played he contributed at a high level,” said McDermott. “From a leadership standpoint, when you look at that Tennessee game on the road, his run in there was really one of the runs that got us kind of sparked in terms of going on the drive to go win it.”

The Bills head coach also spoke on Yeldon’s ability to handle himself as a player despite not playing every week.

The kind of team-first attitude brought by Yeldon shows that he is not just a great player, but a great teammate and leader.

There is plenty of gas left in the tank for Yeldon and if he continues on his current path he will soon be awarded with an opportunity to showcase his talents as the main guy in a team’s backfield.
