Washington adds three-star ATH to May 31 visitor list

Washington added a promising athlete to the long list of visitors set to arrive on Montlake on Friday.

Coach Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies have made a late addition to Friday’s group of official visitors in three-star ATH McKay Madsen. The product of Clovis North High School in California is an exciting playmaker who stands out on both sides of the ball and is also one of the nation’s top throwers.

Not only did he tally 1,035 yards and 18 touchdowns as a running back and occasional option quarterback while recording 75 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles as a safety, but he’s also one of the nation’s top throwers. His 62-11 shot put and 196-2 discus throw are both the No. 2 marks in the country.

Madsen holds 13 offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Boston College, Harvard, UCLA, and others. He took an official visit to Los Angeles on May 3 to see the Bruins and Washington is currently the only other trip he has scheduled.

It’s hard to tell which side of the ball fits Madsen best at the college level, as his impressive frame and athleticism at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds could play well on either side.

That said, it appears that the Huskies prefer him in the front seven, as his scholarship offer in March came from linebackers coach Robert Bala. Washington is hosting four other linebackers on official visits over the next month and it appears Bala is looking to add at least three scholarship players to the room, since there are four seniors in his room for the 2024 season.
