Social media reacts to Duke softball booking its first Women’s College World Series berth

The Blue Devils survived a ninth-inning scare to clinch their first trip to the Women’s College World Series on Sunday. Here are the best reactions.

After coming within two wins in each of the last two seasons, Duke is finally headed to the Women’s College World Series.

The Blue Devils made their fans sweat it out, though. After eight scoreless innings with Missouri, a solo home run from D’Auna Jennings kicked off a four-run sprint in the top of the ninth to seemingly ice the game. However, the Tigers got two runners aboard before a three-run home run jolted life back into the home crowd.

However, the Blue Devils brought starter Cassidy Curd back to the circle for the final few outs, and the celebration was on. After winning both the ACC regular-season title and the conference tournament, the first 50-win season in school history, and outrage about Duke being underseeded at the 10th overall spot, head coach Marissa Young and her team are finally headed to Oklahoma City.

Here are some of the best reactions from Duke and its fans on Sunday night.
