Warriors organize auction to help save West Oakland’s ‘Warriors House’

To help save West Oakland’s “Warriors House,” the Golden State Warriors have set up a charity auction with proceeds benefitting Lloyd Canamore’s home.

Although it’s not Oracle Arena or San Francisco’s Chase Center, West Oakland’s “Warriors House” has earned its name for a reason. Along with team signs, pennants and flags, Lloyd Canamore’s home is decorated from top to bottom in Golden State blue and gold. With fans stopping by for photos and music videos being filmed outside, The Warriors House has morphed into a Bay Area landmark.

The West Oakland home has been in the Canamore family for 50 years. However, following the loss of his mother last year, the Warriors die-hard fan is in jeopardy of losing the home he grew up in. After discovering a reverse mortgage was taken out in his mother’s name, Canamore will need $350,000 to avoid the bank taking his home.

Canamore’s Oakland neighbor of 12 years helped launch a GoFundMe page for the Warriors House, and Stephen Curry took notice. The two-time Most Valuable Player urged Warriors fans to help Canamore keep his home. With the help of Curry and Dub Nation, the Warriors House GoFundMe has grown over $255,000 in donations.

The Golden State Warriors are now joining the cause. Fans can bid on a package that included lunch with head coach Steve Kerr, autographed jerseys from Curry and Draymond Green along with a pair of Klay Thompson’s signature Anta shoes. All proceeds will go towards Lloyd’s efforts to keep his home.

The auction is set to close on Friday, July 24. The current bid sits at $5,100. Bid on the Warriors House auction on eBay here.
