Players have removed themselves from the portal and decided to return to school after choosing to transfer in the past, but it seems that no such change of heart is coming for quarterback [autotag]Walker Howard[/autotag].
The former four-star recruit and top-50 overall prospect entered the transfer portal last week in a decision that came as somewhat of a surprise. On Monday, Howard penned a farewell letter to the LSU program and fanbase, seemingly making his decision official in the process.
“As a kid, I have always dreamed of playing at LSU,” he said in his post on Twitter. “I never imagined being anywhere else. However, when things happen in life, we have to adjust and keep moving forward. With that being said, I have made the decision to leave LSU to look for the best spot for me to grow. This was a very difficult decision for me and my family. I can’t explain how thankful I am for all the relationships I have built at LSU.
“I want to thank coach Kelly and his staff for welcoming me with open arms and for always having my back. I am sad to leave my best friends and teammates, but I know that we will forever be friends. Thank you again, LSU.”

Howard has become a hot commodity on the transfer market already, taking visits to TCU and Ole Miss. The Lafayette native and St. Thomas More High School graduate was also visited at his home by Florida Gators offensive line coach and co-offensive coordinator Rob Sale.
After only seeing action in two games this season and attempting four passes, Howard will officially be moving on with four remaining years of eligibility.
