Josh Heupel was hired as Tennessee’s head coach on Jan. 27.
Heupel replaces Jeremy Pruitt who was relieved of his duties for cause last month.
Tight ends coach Joe Osovet’s contract ran through Jan. 31, 2022 with Tennessee.
Vols Wire was informed that Osovet is no longer coaching at Tennessee as he is not being retained.
Osovet has a long history of offensive success in his career.
He came to Tennessee in Feb. 2018 from ASA College where he served as head coach. Osovet served as head coach at Nassau CC (2013-15) before arriving at ASA College from 2016-17.
Osovet is known as the RPO innovator.
In 2001, he started running an offensive scheme called a manipulation.
The scheme is used to manipulate defenders and is now the face of offenses throughout the sport. The plays are now referenced as RPOs.
