Tennessee’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will participate in an annual Hoops for Hope on Saturday.
The event is slated for 11 a.m. EDT at Farragut High School’s Lynn E. Sexton Gymnasium in Farragut, Tennessee. Hoops for Hope will benefit the Down Syndrome Awareness Group of East Tennessee.
The Vols and Lady Vols’ basketball teams will arrive at approximately 10:30 a.m. EDT. Student-athletes will play basketball with children and adults with Down syndrome.
The event was started by Farragut High School student Trey Sexton as his project to become an Eagle Scout in 2008.
Sexton left Tennessee to attend college the following year and the event continued with his family’s support.
Hoops for Hope was not held from 2020-21 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
