Vinny Curry is returning to the Jets.
New York signed the defensive lineman on Wednesday. Curry, 33, signed with the Jets last offseason, but he lost his entire 2021 campaign to complications stemming from a rare blood disorder.
Curry revealed the issue last August. At the time, he shared that the disorder was discovered by team doctors in July. The diagnosis required the removal of his spleen, but Curry was supposed to return in mid-September. However, blood clots formed during his recovery, which forced him to go on blood thinners. That prevented Curry from sustaining physical contact for the next three to six months, he wrote in a social media post.

Curry vowed to play again in 2022. The Jets waived him from the non-football injury list in January, but they’re now taking him up on his promise to take the field again.
“I’m back, baby,” Curry said in a video posted to New York’s Twitter account. “I’m ready to take flight and kick some [expletive] on the way. Let’s go!”
Curry previously spent seven years in Philadephia and one in Tampa Bay. A Neptune, New Jersey native, he has 32.5 sacks for his career. Curry tallied three sacks as a rotational defender with the Eagles in 2020.
