Vinny Curry contract details: Jets DE gets $800K guaranteed

Vinny Curry rejoined the Jets on a deal that is comparable to the one he signed with New York last offseason.

Vinny Curry rejoined the Jets in April, signing a contract that is similar to the one he inked with New York last offseason.

Per ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Curry most recently signed a one-year, $1.12 million deal that includes $800,00 guaranteed. For comparison, Curry inked a one-year, $1.3 million pact with $1.1 million guaranteed last year.

Curry never got a chance to play on that original deal after losing his entire 2021 campaign to complications stemming from a rare blood disorder. Curry revealed the issue last August after the disorder was discovered by Jets doctors in July. The diagnosis required the removal of his spleen, but Curry was supposed to return last September. But blood clots formed during recovery, which forced Curry to go on blood thinners. Those prevented Curry from sustaining physical contact for a while.

Curry vowed to return in 2022. The Jets waived him from the non-football injury list in January, but they’re now taking him up on his promise to take the field again.
